Silica content is the primary indicator of suitability for ferrous casting work. Our Foundry Sand is drawn from deposits with inherently favourable mineralogy — natural purity that translates into high refractoriness without extensive beneficiation. At iron pour temperatures from 1,250°C to over 1,400°C, a sand that holds structural integrity without sintering, fusing, or thermally degrading produces cleaner castings with fewer surface defects, less burn-on, and reduced fettling time in finishing. We verify SiO₂ content through both internal testing and independent XRF analysis — confirmed data for your metallurgical and QA teams, not supplier assertions.
Natural high-silica deposit / 1,250 to 1,400°C range / No sintering or burn-on / XRF verified

AFS grain fineness number (GFN) is a process parameter that determines casting surface finish, mould permeability, and sand behaviour within your binder system. Finer GFN produces a smoother casting surface but reduces permeability — suits precision castings where surface finish is priority. Coarser GFN increases permeability and thermal stability — suits applications where gas venting and mould integrity are the priority. We adjust the size fraction of our foundry sand on a pre-ordered basis to match your target AFS GFN range. This is a specification supply arrangement, not a commodity stock item. Engage with us at the process planning stage for the best outcome.
Adjustable to target GFN / Finer for surface finish / Coarser for permeability / Process planning preferred

The sand is free of clay, organic matter, and other contaminants that interfere with binder performance and mould integrity. In chemically bonded sand systems — whether furan, phenolic urethane, or alkaline phenolic — contaminant-free sand produces more predictable binder consumption, more consistent cure times, and stronger moulds. For green sand operations, a clean base sand allows precise control of bentonite additions and moisture levels without compensating for variability from the incoming sand. Grain shape and size distribution support good permeability and flowability, allowing gases generated during the pour to vent effectively and reducing porosity and gas-related defects.
Clay free / Organic matter free/ Predictable binder consumption / Consistent cure times

Every supply arrangement is supported by two layers of analytical data. Internal testing covers grain size distribution, AFS fineness number, clay content, and loss on ignition — the standard suite of physical and chemical parameters for foundry sand qualification. This is supplemented by external XRF analysis from an independent laboratory, confirming the full oxide chemistry and providing the third-party verification that quality-managed foundry operations increasingly require. Documentation is provided with supply, structured to integrate with your incoming material acceptance and quality management systems.
