Construction Entrance Rock — 1 to 3"

Large angular stone for stabilised construction site entrances and temporary access pads. Scrapes mud from tyres before vehicles reach public roads — keeping your site compliant, your roads clean, and your SWPPP current without constant maintenance.

A pad that fails puts mud on public roads, triggers inspection notices, and creates programme delays. Angular stone in the 1-3" range maintains the surface that forces mud dislodgement — load after load, crossing after crossing.
Material specification
  • 1" to 3" angular stone — optimal tyre scraping range
  • Interlocks under traffic — pad holds depth without migration
  • SWPPP stabilised entrance BMP compliant — TCEQ CGP TXR150000
  • Compatible with geotextile fabric separation layer
  • Recoverable and reusable — screened for multi-project use
Primary applications
  • Stabilised construction site entrances
  • Temporary haul roads and access pads
  • Equipment staging and wash-down areas
  • SWPPP BMP implementation — all project sizes

What makes this product perform.

  • The 1-3" size range is the industry standard for stabilised construction entrances because it is large enough to dislodge mud packed into tyre treads, and irregular enough to expose fresh angular faces as vehicles pass over it. Smaller stone flattens under traffic, loses interlock, and becomes ineffective quickly. Rounded stone simply rolls under tyres rather than agitating them. Angular stone in the 1-3" range maintains the coarse, irregular surface that forces mud dislodgement — every axle crossing the pad sheds sediment that stays on the rock, not on the road. The angular shape also provides interlocking resistance so the pad holds its depth under repeated truck crossings rather than migrating sideways and thinning out at the point of use.

1" to 3" optimal range / Angular — forces mud dislodgement / Resists lateral migration / Maintains pad depth

  • A stabilised construction entrance is a standard Best Management Practice (BMP) under Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) in Texas and across the US. The TCEQ Construction General Permit (TXR150000) requires operators to implement BMPs that minimise sediment tracking onto public roads from construction sites. A properly specified and maintained stabilised entrance is one of the most visible and inspected BMPs on any active site. Our 1-3" angular stone meets the material specification referenced in standard SWPPP guidance for stabilised entrances, and we can supply in the quantities needed to install, top-dress, and replenish the pad throughout the project's active phase.

  • Installing the entrance pad over a geotextile fabric layer separates the stone from the native subgrade, preventing fines migration upward into the pad that would progressively fill voids and reduce effectiveness. It also keeps the stone recoverable at the end of the project — the pad can be stripped and the stone screened and reused on the same or a subsequent project rather than being mixed with soil and disposed of. For project managers managing material costs across multiple active sites, the ability to reuse entrance rock is a practical efficiency. We can supply in bulk for single-site use or in quantities suited to a stock-and-rotate programme across multiple projects.

Geotextile separation recommended / Stone recoverable and reusable / Fines migration prevented / Multi-site rotation possible
