Our #57 Stone comprises a blend of crushed sub-angular particles and naturally rounded stone. The crushed fraction provides the interlocking surface texture and angularity that contributes to strong paste-to-aggregate bond and higher compressive and flexural strength. A wholly rounded aggregate sacrifices some of this mechanical interlock. Conversely, a wholly crushed angular aggregate increases water demand and reduces workability — making placement and consolidation difficult in sections with congested reinforcement or complex formwork. Our blended product delivers a balance: the angular component supports structural performance while the rounded fraction improves flowability, reduces internal friction in the fresh mix, and contributes to easier pumping and finishing.

The material is processed to a consistent grading within the #57 envelope. Inconsistent grading from load to load forces producers to adjust water content, admixture dosing, and cement ratios — introducing variability into a process where consistency is fundamental. The aggregate is clean and free of clay, silt, organic material, and deleterious fines. Clay coatings on coarse aggregate weaken the bond between paste and stone, increase water demand, and can contribute to shrinkage cracking and reduced durability. Organic contamination can interfere with cement hydration and retard set times. Removing these contaminants at the supply stage eliminates a source of quality risk that is difficult and costly to manage at the point of batching. What goes into the mixer clean comes out performing to spec.
